Girl wash your face…with oil!
Yep, I said oil. By now many of you have heard me talk about oil cleansing but let's really get into it.
For so long we have all been taught that oil is bad. But that's not necessarily true. Our skin needs oil to function properly so when we strip it off, our bodies make more, sometimes in excess. If we're already dealing with acne and blackheads, this excess oil production can exacerbate the situation.
Like attracts like when it comes to oil. Oil cleansing gives a deep cleanse, removing excess oils on the skin (along with makeup, sunscreen, dirt, etc.) without surfactants, stripping ingredients, or necessary preservatives in traditional lathering cleansers. These harsh ingredients are not supportive of your skin's microbiome (yes, like your gut, your skin has it's own microbiome. More on this in another post!)
Benefits to regular oil cleansing include:
• A more balanced oil production
• Blackhead reduction
• Keep the skin's microbiome healthy and vibrant
• Easily remove makeup, sunscreen, and dirt
How to oil cleanse
(its easier than you think)
Step 1: Massage about a dime sized amount of oil or oil cleanser into dry skin. Focus on problem areas or areas with tension. Take your time!
Step 2: Wet a washcloth with warm to hot water and ring out.
Step 3: Press washcloth into skin and take a deep breath.
Step 4: Starting at the forehead, remove oil moving your washcloth in circular movements, working down and out.
Step 5: Rinse washcloth and press into skin, taking another deep breath.
Step 6: Follow with your favorite hydrosol and oil based moisturizer or balm
Since this method provides a deep cleanse, it is best done in the evening and just rinsing with warm water in the morning.
What to use:
• Laurel Whole Plant Organics Clarity Cleanser (the creme de la creme in my opinion)
• Jojoba oil
• Cold pressed sesame oil
• Ashley Lee Beauty Signature Oil Cleanser (now available!)

New products now in store!
I am excited to announce that I am now carrying two new product lines Pranarom and Meow Meow Tweet!
Pranarom makes a variety of hydrosols (think hydrating spray), virgin plant oils (i.e. avocado & neroli), and essential oils. Meow Meow Tweet is the creator of the best natural deodorant I have found, as well as a variety of plant based facial and body care products. Both of these lines are well sourced, plant based, and budget friendly. Also, great for teens!!
Don't worry Laurel lovers, LWPO products aren't going anywhere! I just know that sometimes we need some budget friendly options.
I am also in the process of formulating a couple of my own products that I will carry by the container and apothecary style. I hope to have a soft launch of these by the end of the year, so stay tuned!!

Current Makeup Favorites
Over the last few years I have swapped all my makeup products for ones with cleaner and plant based ingredients. Our makeup is on our skin all day, I for one want to make sure it's not going to be working against me! Making swaps to green beauty can be daunting so I thought I would send out a description of my current go-tos and favorites!
I have been using Gressa's Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation for a few months now and loving it! It's like a pigmented serum (read: good for your skin) that starts out liquid and finishes with a velvety glow. This foundation comes in a dropper bottle which I love because it helps control the amount I want to use. I just blend about three drops in with a brush and my skin looks and feels like my skin, only better!
A little bit of this Hynt Beauty Duet Perfecting Concealer goes a long way! It is super concentrated. I just use my finger to lightly tap it in under my eyes and no one can tell I've been up all night with my two month old!
RMS is an amazing green beauty line that I have been dying to try. I purchased two of their products over the summer and have used them almost every time I do my makeup. Their Lip2Cheek in Modest is the perfect berry pink color. Cream blushes used to be intimidating to me but after trying this one, I'm not sure I want to go back to a powder. The pigment melts beautifully into my skin allowing for a dewy, soft flushed look and applying a little to my lips gives them just the right amount of color.
I also got their Eye Polish in Lunar, a staple shimmery cream color. A little tap on the center of my lids, brow bones, and top of cheeks gives me the perfect highlight.
For my brows I love the Zuzu Luxe Brow Pencil in Russet. It's a great color for dark blondes to brunettes. I will even smudge it into my lash line for a subtle definition to my eyes. (I LOVE multitasking products!)
Finding a clean mascara that lasts hasn't been easy, but the Good Lash Mascara by FitGlow Beauty takes the cake! It has a tapered brush for volume and coating each of your lashes.
Most of these products are super concentrated, a little goes a long way and they will last forever!
Have you made the switch to green beauty products? It can seem overwhelming, I know. If you haven't, I challenge you to try one product, just one. You will love the results!
Need help finding a swap for your favorite product? Let me know! I would love to help you.

Concentrating on the health of your skin, along with the fluids and tissues underneath is what will bring you glowing results.
By using products that support your microbiome and lymph system along with massage, the Vodder method of manual lymph drainage, Gua Sha, and jade rolling; I can gently relieve inflammation under your skin. Clearing it of acne, wrinkles, rosacea, and an aged appearance.
More frequent treatments will provide more results which is why I have 30 and 60 minute facial massage appointments available on my menu in addition to 75 and 90 minute facials.
Have questions? Please don't hesitate to reach out!
I hope to see you soon
Brushing the skin with a dry, natural bristled, body brush
Benefits of dry brushing include exfoliation, lymph stimulation, increased circulation, promotes detoxification, and reduces the appearance of cellulite.
Dry brushing is best done in the morning prior to showing. Begin at the feet, brush in long overlapping strokes, towards the center of the body. Be sure to use gentle pressure, this is not meant to hurt!
After showering, apply your favorite body oil to wet skin. I like avocado or jojoba oil. For a real treat try a Laurel Whole Plant Organic body oil! The secret here is applying oil to wet skin, this will lock in the moisture leaving your skin silky smooth.
Look for brushes at any local health food store in the body care section. Be sure to find one with natural bristles and a long handle for those hard to reach places.
Sticky, sweet, simple, raw honey is one of my absolute favorite skin care ingredients. Used on its own or mixed into a mask (such as the Honey Berry Enzyme Mask from Laurel Whole Plant Organics) raw honey hydrates, heals, and lightly exfoliates the skin, reducing dryness, acne, and hyperpigmentation.
I love using raw honey in the mornings before I get in the shower!
How to use:
•Moisten makeup-free skin with a steamy cloth
•Massage about 1 tsp Raw Honey onto skin using fingertips
•Leave for 10-30 minutes
•Follow with facial mist and oil based serum
Can be used daily if desired
IMPORTANT NOTE: Honey must be raw in order for it to contain all its nutrients and benefits.
